Alvin Rendell has recently received his doctorate in screenwriting and genre studies. Alvin’s research centres on the craft of screenwriting and the authorship of blended genre feature films, with particular focus on the writing conventions and psychoanalytic theory behind the generation of audience laughter and fear. He has a long history of stage performance and his current research interests lie in the commercial disparity between Australian and Hollywood feature films. He has written unproduced feature films in the science fiction, comedy thriller and romantic comedy film genres. Alvin is currently Project Manager in Higher Education Accreditation and Curriculum at Chisholm Institute in Melbourne.
